Simple Steps. Better Air. is a public awareness and outreach program created by the Regional Air Quality Council to educate residents in the greater Denver Metropolitan area about ground-level ozone pollution and actions to improve air quality.

Know when it matters most to protect your health and take simple steps for better air in your community. Between late May and mid-September, Simple Steps. Better Air. and the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) issue afternoon ground-level ozone advisories in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

Our Programs
The Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is the lead air quality planning organization for the nine-county Denver Metro/North Front Range Ozone Nonattainment Area. The RAQC works to improve air quality and protect Colorado’s health, environment and economy through planning, policy development, program implementation and a variety of outreach and education efforts.
Mow Down Pollution
The Mow Down Pollution program mitigates ground-level ozone and enhances Front Range air quality by incentivizing individuals and organizations to make the switch to electric lawn and garden equipment.
This initiative offers vouchers to support individuals, small businesses, and the public sector who opt to recycle their gas-powered lawn equipment and replace it with electric-powered alternatives.
AQ Planning
The RAQC, through its planning process, works with Colorado state agencies, local government, industry, environmental groups, and citizens to develop clean air plans for the Denver Metro / North Front Range ozone nonattainment area, and evaluate the impact of various emissions reduction strategies at reducing ozone levels in the region.
